Biography

Raymond O. Wells, Jr. (Ronny Wells)  is Distinguished Professor of Mathematics at Jacobs University Bremen and Adjunct Professor of Mathematics at the University of Colorado at Boulder and Emeritus Professor of Mathematics at Rice University.

He received his Ph.D. degree from the Courant Institute of Mathematical Sciences at New York University and thereafter had a 35-year career as a mathematics professor at Rice University in Houston. He is the recipient of Fulbright and Guggenheim awards in addition to the U.S. Senior Scientist Award from the Alexander von Humboldt Foundation, and is a Fellow of the AAAS and the American Mathematical Society.

From 1998 to 2001, Raymond was working on the creation of International University Bremen, and from 2001 until 2005 he served there as Vice President for External Affairs and Professor of Mathematics.

Living now in Boulder, Colorado, he has been Chairman of the Advisory Board of the International Business Circle, President of the Boulder Ensemble Theatre Company and is currently President of the Boulder Philharmonic Orchestra.
